ANTONOVICH FURS

Ahh... Antonovich, a familiar household name, but more importantly one that is synonymous with the highest quality furs.
For years we have heard the familiar voice of Daniel Antonovich alongside celebrities such as William B. Williams, and Melba Moore over the radio and probably feel that we know him personally. It is this comfortable feeling one feels when entering the store for that special “life altering purchase,” a fur coat. Daniel, designer and chief executive officer and David, his younger brother and senior vice president of sales, marketing and business development feel that the customer service they render should be just as special as the furs in the showroom. As a courtesy, if you are going to the showroom and get lost they will send a car for you.
The Antonovich showroom boasts a collection of over thousands of furs ranging from entry level to the super luxurious. After all claims Daniel “How can a woman really know what she wants if she has nothing to compare it to.” Not only will these fine gentlemen help you select the fur coat of your dreams but where else can one go to find a fashion savvy staff, a tailor, and creative department all under one roof? Your coat will have an impeccable fit as it will be molded to each lady’s specific body shape. Every fur is as unique as you are. A properly designed fur coat should be slightly loose fitting with a full sweep at the bottom. Thankfully, we no longer need to wait for a black tie event in order to enjoy our fur coat, today’s fashion dictates that we can use our furs every day and feel fabulous.
Who would have thought?
Daniel Antonovich and David Antonovich started their fur business as teenagers in the basement of their home in Queens, NY as a cottage industry. Both brothers were educated by the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York. As their business grew their instinct lead them to a new niche, they took a bold leap of faith and decided to sell their quality furs at below department store prices. This now meant that career women could purchase their own fur coats. “I have a deep respect for America’s career women and their formidable achievements,” says Daniel, “The quality of the fur coat each woman buys must reflect that accomplishment, and an Antonovich fur is, like her, the best in its class in the world.”
At Antonovich their everyday prices are their competitor’s sale prices. Stop by and try on a fur of unparalleled quality…. And you’ll see why women say, “Ahh… Antonovich!”
Their showroom is located at 125 Route 46 West, Totowa, NJ. Choose from one of the largest selections of furs, leathers, and shearlings. For more information, please call 1-800-919-FURS (3877) or visit

DiPaolo's Bakery

We all remember the sweet voice of Connie Francis and her popular hit “Where the Boys Are.”What we may not have known is where the best Biscotti are … However, Connie Francis and her father, Franco, knew. Franco came to DiPaolo’s Bakery every morning for a freshly baked loaf of Italian bread, while Connie, from Essex Fells, would order pastry for all her social functions from Vincent DiPaolo.
Vicent got his start at a very young age. While he attended grammar school he worked part time at a local bakery in the town of Abruzzo, east of Rome. Upon moving to the United States he continued to work in a local bakery while finishing high school. By age twenty, Vincent opened his first small bakery in Newark, NJ. As word of his delectable delights spread, business grew steadily. When many of his customers began moving from Newark to Verona in the 1980’s, Vincent knew he needed to follow them. His instinct was correct; he has been baking for his customers for over 45 years.
Some of the flavors of cakes available are: Rum Cake coated with sliced almonds, Cannoli Cake, Seven Layers, Tiramisu, Black Forest, and Lemon Coconut. Vincent makes it a point to carry a specialty flavor every week for his loyal clientele. In addition, DiPaolo’s Bakery carries an assortment of cookies, pastries, and breads baked daily on the premises.

Saveur Gourmet

After traveling throughout Europe and enjoying the best gourmet foods and cheeses that each country has to offer, Paola and Fiona, owners of Saveur Gourmet found the way to bring “the best of” directly to you. Located at 707 Bloomfield Avenue in Verona, it is a convenience and a treat to be able to purchase foods locally that Dean & Deluca, Balducci or Balthazar carry, instead of having to trek to New York City. While working as accountants, Paola and Fiona traveled to France, Spain, Italy, Poland, Switzerland, and Portugal. Upon their return to the states their goal was two-fold, firstly, to bring the world’s variety locally and secondly to have fresh quality and healthful foods delivered daily for same day consumption, a European custom.
Saveur Gourmet specialty cheese list includes many international varieties such as Jean De Brie, considered by many to be the Rolls Royce of brie; French Beaufort, one of the cheeses that goes well with white wine; Manchego cheese, made only from whole milk of the Manchego sheep raised in the “La Mancha” region of Spain; and Taleggio, the Italian soft salty brie known for its continuous edible quality.
Wonderful accompaniments to some of the afore mention cheeses are Plum Jam Morgada, made from full ripe greengage specialty plums cultivated in the Alentejo region of Southeast Portugal and Maggie Fig spread from Croatia made with sun-dried figs carefully cooked to sweetened perfection.
Given a 24-hour notice Saveur Gourmet will assemble a customized ready-to-serve cheese platter or gift basket for next day pick up or delivery. With picnic season approaching one can drop off a picnic basket and pick it up the following day packed with flavorsome gourmet indulgences such as the “Italiano Sandwich” consisting of prosciutto, sun-dried tomatoes, Asiago cheese, mixed greens and house vinaigrette on a Ciabatta baguette. Additionally, in-house salad bar, soups and sandwiches are available for lunch. Saturdays are sweet at Saveur Gourmet. On this day-assorted pastry such as canneles, chocolate bread, orange brioche, scones and apple galette are available from Balthazar Bakery.
